Ivo Siromahov

Ivo Siromahov was born on December 29, 1971 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
After graduating from the National School for Ancient Languages and Culture in Sofia, he studied stage direction at the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts.

In 1994 Siromahov began his career as director. He staged a number of successful performances like Gogol’s “Marriage”, John Osborne’s “Look back in anger”, Keith Waterhouse’s “Billy The Liar”, and Shakespeare’s “Macbeth”.
In 1995 he got the award for Arts Debut of the Bulgarian National Radio.
In 1998 Siromahov has turned writing. He wrote political satire and headed the cultural section at the 24 Hours daily newspaper.

Then he became a scriptwriter for Bulgaria’s most popular TV programme, Slavi’s Show.
Ivo Siromahov writes articles and comments for magazines like Playboy, Hustler and MAX.
His first book, A Night in the Cemetery, appeared in 1999.
The second, An Optimistic Theory of Bulgarian Sex, has been published in 2007.
